Labor movement relation is what makes it possible for the many workers in America relate and interact in the manner they do. The working of the labor movements is structured in a manner that ensures labor relations and collective bargaining. Employers and employees are capable of working together thanks to these labor management relations. These relations have been present for several years as they date back to more than two hundred and twenty years. The relations began in the year 1792 when shoemakers referred to as the Philadelphian Cordwainers formed a union that would represent their views (Carrell, Heavrin, & Carrell, 2013). The shoe makers demanded better pay therefore the need for the union formation. This saw the rise of relations that would see employers and employees interests balanced.

The roots of the American labor movement started to be significant after the American Revolution when the then craftspeople supplied the first labor unions. Some of the first unions include the Journey Cordwainers of 1792, Journeymen printers of 1794 and the New York Cabinetmakers of 1796 (Holley, Kenneth, & Wolter, 2012). They unions comprised skilled craftspeople tasked with ensuring a balance between employers and employees. The balance between the two resulted to an influx of people migrating to America between the years 1846 and 1855. An initial resistance between the resident and the intruders were settled by formation of a partnership between the American labor and the intruders. The immigrants were willing to work for lesser wages therefore resulting to a reduction in the cost of production. This is because of the competition from the immigrants who were ready to work for lower wages. In 1866, a national labor congress the first of its kind, held in Baltimore resulted to the formation of a national labor union (Holley, Kenneth, & Wolter, 2012).
